FORM OF ROCKET
MEN
Sickroom records
Form Of Rocket have set up their psychological gauntlet and ask us to take a spin. Their music creeps up on you from the darkest corners of your mind. Rhythmically, lyrically, expressively, it becomes an enticing tangle of sublimated passions, forbidden fruits gone rotten on the vine. It slices through that thin veneer of normalcy that coats everyday life, and exposes us to a world full of rage, fury, and lust that mom and dad may not want you to see. So after six years of tumultuous line up changes, relentless touring, blossoming, transforming, faltering, cocooning and reemerging, Form Of Rocket have finally arrived here in this moment with Men, their third record, presented by Sick Room. Scarred but not scared, bruised but not beaten down, they are ready to take you to the edge.

RADIO 4
GOTHAM
Gern Blandsten
With their sophomore album, RADIO 4 find themselves far more rhythmically aware: Gotham! seems ready-made for dance floors and basement parties alike. On new songs like "Struggle," "Save Your City," and "Enthusiasts," the band urges you to snap out of the '90s-boom-years-daze and realize that everything is not all right, all done to the sound of looping bass lines, scratchy guitars and throbbing beats. After recording the basic tracks by themselves, RADIO 4 hooked up with like-minded collaborators in the Death From Above production team of James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy, known for their work with THE RAPTURE and others.

SHARKS AND SEALS
IT'S HARD TO NOT MEAN ANYTHING
Collage Collective
Sharks and Seals is Joe Tricoli (Friend/Enemy, the Bimbobs), Todd Mattei (Joan of Arc, Friend/Enemy), Dave Osborn (Consafos, Belfrie), and Alance Ward (Consafos, Belfrie). Also, at least for the time being, Sharks and Seals is joined on stage by the talented keyboardist Gary James (Shelly Short). Tricoli and Mattei started the band as a completely recreational project, recording improvised pieces to a hard drive. Soon they realized that the music deserved to be taken more seriously. With the help of some of their musician friends, The new and second Sharks and Seals record, Its Hard to not Mean Anything, The new full-band lineup found Sharks and Seals writing songs in a more straightforward way. Without losing the improvised edge that Sharks and Seals was inspired by originally, the songs became solid entities that could be strongly transmitted live. (CD Baby)

UNWED SAILOR
CIRCLES
Burn Toast Vinyl
The Circles EP is a sprawling 16+ minute opus with two separate movements, “Mist” and “Mesa”, originally intended to be part of "The White Ox", but strong enough and different enough to stand alone and precede the full-length’s arrival. UK artist James Marsh was enlisted for the cover artwork for both Circles and The White Ox.

THE JADE SHADER
CURSE OF THE TUATARA
Catune
Featuring members that spent time in No Knife, Boilermaker, and Rocket from the Crypt, this new project takes a road not all that far from the two former acts, in creating some driving indie rock with a variety of influences. On this 7-song EP entitled Curse of the Tuatara, the band tinkers with a variety of styles. It’s an understood hesitance, but one the band must take in stride. The mostly melancholy approach does work for the band, but it‘s not a sense of melancholy that’s dwelled on. These aren’t a bunch of sappy, slow-paced songs about self loathing, all the emotion comes courtesy of Chris Prescott’s vocal chords.

SUPERSUCKERS
LIVE AT THE TRACTOR TAVERN
Abstract Sounds
Previously un-released live country tracks by The Supersuckers If you know The Supersuckers as a guitar-posing, riff-wielding, cowboy hat-clad garage band, you'll find this rare transformation to a nightclub country band as surprising as it is intoxicating. Recorded live in their hometown of Seattle, the band scrounges through its catalogue, turning 100 mph originals like "Creepy Jackalope Eye" and "Born With a Tail" into whittled down, off-the-cuff slices of Nashville twang. Eddie Spaghetti's whiskey-soothed pipes strike a balance, slithering between the guitar-and-harmonica interplay of Dan "Thunder" Bolton and guest Dave Lipkind, who transform "Doublewide" into line-dancer's bliss, and make "Sail On" ripe for a Glen Campbell comeback. After the rambunctious Tractor audience take backing vocal honours on "Killer Weed", the 'Suckers close out the night with a hard-core honky-tonk version of Buck Owens' "Alabama, Louisiana or Maybe Tennessee".

PAGE FRANCE
...AND THE FAMILY TELEPHONE
Cydonia Records
The band's fifth release in four years is the product of many hands, but the work of one heart. Principle songwriter Michael Nau's lyrics call to mind Dylan or Nilsson ghostwriting for Margo Guryan, all well-accompanied by a range of upbeat instrumentation. "Rich in melody and rife with dreamy natural/biblical imagery...Michael Nau's adolescent voice sweetly floats over occasional female backing vocals and sparse instrumentation (organ, glockenspiel, acoustic guitar)" - Spin

THE ROBOCOP KRAUS
LIVING WITH OTHER PEOPLE
Day After
A lot of people has been waiting for the follow up to previous album "Tiger", which gained the band a tremendous success. " Living With Other People" contains 12 new songs of typical Robocop Kraus trademark - catchy, pulsing music with creative guitar, outstanding organ and excelent vocal, this time more influenced by the 80`s rock sound of bands like Gang Of Four, The Wire, Talking Heads or nowadays Les Savy Fav and Radio 4. Enough of time for the recording and a good producer provided the recording a pleasant, warm danceable sound! The new album is coming out as a split release between Day After and L`age D`or, one of the biggest indie labels out of Germany (home of Tocotronic which latest album sold a few hundred thousands...) which will provide a strong promotion of the new album and band itself.

FAST PIECE OF FURNITURE
ADVENTURES IN CONTENTMENT
Dischord Records | Adult Swim
Fast Piece of Furniture is a Toledo, Ohio-based band formed by singer and guitarist Tony Lowe, who played with a variety of bands in Ohio, including Junior Electric. In 2003 he met Jeff Nelson, who had made a name for himself drumming in Minor Threat, Three, Senator Flux and The High-Back Chairs. Jeff moved to Toledo from the Washington, DC area because of his obsession with old Jeep Wagoneers, (Jeep is from Toledo) and for Toledo’s remarkable collection of affordable Victorian houses. Although when he moved he had not played drums in 12 years, he was so impressed by Tony's playing, singing, and song-writing that he came out of retirement to join his band. After several line-up changes, they were joined by bassist Mahlon Orrin, who’d played in The Black Dahlia Murder and PB.Army. Shortly thereafter, the band was completed when friend and law student Erika Kuester joined them on keyboards. Fast Piece of Furniture plays regularly in Toledo and embarked on a mini-tour to Washington, DC and back in May 2007. “Adventures in Contentment” was recorded on location in Jeff’s Victorian house and at The Aquarium Studios, both in Toledo, Ohio. The album was mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.

PINBACK
OFFCELL
Absolutely Kosher
The long-awaited new EP from San Diego hotties PINBACK, and the band's first release of all new material since 2001's Blue Screen Life. Join ROB CROW (THINGY, OPTIGANALLY YOURS, HEAVY VEGETABLE) and ARMISTEAD BURWELL SMITH IV (THREE MILE PILOT) as they take a dramatic leap forward from an already high place with a five-track combination of delicate yet intricate harmonies, rollicking tempos, and simple, pretty melodies. Striking, innovative, and on fire.

HOLY SMOKES
TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT GANGS
Skin Graft Records
On their Skin Graft debut, Holy Smokes arrive fully formed. Where the band's debut offered a discordant free-jazz-noise-rock shock, "Talk To Your Kids About Gangs" emerges as a harmonic tangle of pitches and thunder claps, that as they unravel, come into focus as intelligible, infectious oddments of grooving sonance. Make no mistake, these are songs: Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Synth, Drums, Samplers, Toys, Piano, Keyboards, Trumpet and Gadgets - no bullshit. Holy Smokes have recorded a masterfully drawn, spectral broadcast; a call to arms now and forever.

DRAGON RAPIDE
II
Altin Village Records
Leeds post-math perfectionists The Dragon Rapide have their lushly packaged 2nd studio collection now up for grabs. This is joyous & fizzy, uncompromising, optimistic, widdly, wobbly, kaleidoscopic & heart warming stuff. A great leap forward from the debut CD, musically, stylistically & in the production stakes too. There's elements of free jazz & world music here & there but all in all no threat of Andy Kershaw coming round your house to chew your ear off with that worthy accent. So think maybe a friskier, dizzier Tortoise jamming with small slices of Sea & Cake, HiM, hints of Mice Parade & Five Style. Very intricate & clever stuff indeed. The sleeve art was done by their friend from Liverpool & blew me away." (Norman records)

BRIGHT EYES
DIGITAL ASH IN A DIGITAL
Saddle Creek
Containing what are undeniably his finest songs to date, I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning, and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, two separate albums being simultaneously released on January 25th, provide unequivocal proof that 24 year-old Oberst belongs to the lineage of great American songwriters. These albums are a soundly articulated slice of modern American life rolled into two very different records. The new songs are bursting with all of the rough edges and heartfelt poetry for which Bright Eyes records have earned their acclaim, while exposing a glorious new level of depth and texture to the writing and delivery. Recorded back-to-back and scheduled to be released simultaneously, the albums work in tandem to elucidate both sides of Conor’s recent creative output.

THE DICKIES
ALL THIS AND PUPPET STEW
Fat Wreck Chords
The Oldest active punk band is back with 13 songs that are gonna woo the long time fans, and are gonna have newcomers taking notice! Since their beginnings back in the late 70’s, The Dickies have been providing fans with their irritating and noxious brand of punk. All this and Puppet stew is no exception to the standard.

CAP'N JAZZ
ANALPHABETAPOLOTHOLOGY
Jade Tree
With only one full-length album to their name alongside a handful of singles and compilation tracks, CAP'N JAZZ left a longstanding impression and irrefutable influence on the region's bohemian punk scene and unwittingly spawned a breeding ground for future scene stars such as the Promise Ring and Joan Of Arc. Analphabetapolothology (JT1036) compiles thirty-four songs over two compact discs and spans the band's entire history - six tracks of which are previously unreleased. Traces of their sonic fingerprint permeate hundreds of indie records released in their wake. This is why.

NUMBERS
SOLID PLEASURE
Kill Rock Stars
The debut Kill Rock Stars release from San Francisco's NUMBERS-ex-XEROBOT members ERIC and DAVE, and DYNASTY's INDRA. Taking a slightly different route from their usual fast and primal, punk disco thumping, the band implements more melody, fluctuating drones, ambling beats, and more sung-style vocals. Two tracks.
