GRAY MATTER
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dischord Records
Gray Matter officially formed in the summer of 1983 but Geoff Turner, Mark Haggerty and Dante Ferrando had been playing in bands since their early middle school days. The band's first album, "Food For Thought," was originally released on R&B records in 1985 while the members were still in high school and continues to stand out as a classic teenage punk album. This edition of the "Food For Thought" LP was re-cut from original source tapes and is being re-issued on colored vinyl.
THE SORTS
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Slowdime Records
Contemporary Music is the second Slowdime release by the Washington, D.C., sextet the Sorts. This CD contains seven superbly played funk-dub-jazz instrumental tunes. The band has a relaxed feel and articulate tasty phrasings, they write creative compositions, and they manage to play their music with a powerful and understated aggressiveness. Five of the tunes on Contemporary Music are originals, one is a cover of Ornette Coleman's "Una Muy Bonita," while another is a version of Kool and the Gang's "Let the Music Take Your Mind." (All Music Guide)

RITES OF SPRING
S/T
Dischord Records
Simply amazing!! Some of the purest and most raw emotions I have ever heard. This band opened the door both musically and lyrically for many others and created “emo” although their influence has all but been lost. This is some of the most passionate and emotional music that you will ever hear. VINYL VERSION!

FUGAZI
FURNITURE
Dischord Records
Three song featuring "Furniture", which was written during the early days of FUGAZI (the original version only appears on their first demo recordings - and since then has never been released on record) along with the debut appearance of long-time FUGAZI roadie Jerry Busher playing second drums and percussions on "Number Five".

TRUTH THROUGH FIGHT
KEEP TRYING
Punk Machine
"Keep Trying" is a true hardcore album full of energy and powerfull message. It means a real improvement of this Andalusian band, maybe more into "generic" hardcore, but always between the '88 and '97 youth crew style. If you liked "It's All About Change" then you will love this record plenty of sing-a-longs, rage and positive mental attitude. 8 songs made with the heart to make you think. Truth Through Fight is here to bring back the fun and the honesty to an era where hardcore can be just a popularity contest . This is Xerez Hardcore!!!

TITLE TRACKS
EVERY LITTLE BIT
Dischord Records
Title Tracks emerged in mid-2008 from the still-smoldering ashes of Georgie James with an almost preternaturally focused mission statement. This solo project of John Davis has an almost scientific approach to power pop songwriting, where bits and pieces and diverse influences explode and fall into place with a kind of Tetris-esque satisfaction. Both tunes on this 45 are culled from such past experiences in bands like Q and Not U and the aforementioned Georgie James; a holy-grail stocked record collection; a savant-like literacy in power pop; and a moonlighting gig as a radio disc jockey.

ÜBER
ESPAñA Y MIERDA
Sell Our Souls
After two demo tapes and two seven inches here you have their brand new third Ep, released in time for their second European tour in summer 2009. On this record you will find 7 new songs and a re-recorded version of “La Calle Es Mia”, originally released on their second demo tape (Adult Crash, 2008). Über remain true to their own sound: no distortion up-tempo and retarded Punk Rock. Taking influences from the early US HC and the first spanish punk bands like early Siniestro Total and Eskorbuto. Totally retarded attitude and lo-fi sound, it could not be any other way!

BEN DAVIS
CHARGE IT UP!
Lovitt Records
When you’ve been as deep in the scene for as long as Ben Davis has, (formerly of screamo legends Sleepytime Trio and Milemarker) you end up with some pretty bonkers stories. Tales of addicts, cheats and liars with hearts of gold that are also doing their best to create, love and survive--yarns spun out of broken guitar strings, epic mishaps that must be retold in such a way that the actual persons involved are not mentioned by name exactly. Charge It Up!, Ben Davis’ third solo full-length (and the fourteenth album on which his solo work has appeared) is packed to the gills with the kind of frenetic, danceable, shoutable, undeniably beyond catchy hard pop that has flowed like a river of hot lava through his entire catalog.

MINOR THREAT
SALAD DAYS
Dischord Records
The final release of the East Coast's quintessential hardcore punk band, "Salad Days" offers a glimpse into the future of Ian MacKaye's prolific recordings while maintaining the fire and rage of Minor Threat's initial albums. The three songs, slower than the band's previous tracks, are by no means slow, but do give MacKaye a chance to take his first tentative steps toward singing, moving beyond his signature blend of screaming and speaking. The cover "Good Guys Don't Wear White" is an amusing fit, while the music of the two originals is more inventive, as in "Salad Days," which uses acoustic guitar and chimes. MacKaye's lyrics are more pensive, like the line in "Salad Days": "So serious/about the stuff we lack/Dwell upon our memories/but there are no facts." by Ron DePasquale

THE SORTS
MORE THERE
Slowdime Records
More There concentrates, for the most part, on its guitar composition, laying out slanted dynamics of clean, ringing, sweeping chords, and arpeggios, with strangled, emotive vocals threading through these constructions. The results fall somewhere between the lighter side of D.C. hardcore and the less pop side of bands like Tsunami. While More There is occasionally a bit of a snooze, it's a solid record nonetheless. (All Music Guide)

BLACK EYES
S/T
Dischord Records
Dan, Daniel, Hugh, Jacob and Mike. Two drummers, two bass players, chilling rhythmic chants and blasts of Ex/Crass styled scronk-punk-truly an experience to behold. The Black Eyes are part of a new generation of DC bands re-writing all the rules. This CD/LP was recorded by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara at Inner Ear. Remastered! BACK IN STOCK!!!

BURIAL YEAR
PESTILENCE
Adagio 830
Driven by the same ravenous hate and blood thirsty brutality of Discordance Axis and Assuck, Burial Year are paving a new path straight through the filthy depths of todayUs slowly decaying hardcore and metal compost pile. "Pestilence" is the most challenging and technical album Burial Year members have released to date, featuring an extremely rhythmic heavy foundation, complex metallic riffing, and politically charged venomous words. Burial Year simply is a combination of hardcore mentality fused with metal brutality.

MINOR THREAT
FIRST DEMO
Dischord Records
In early 1981 Minor Threat made their first trip to the studio. The band recorded all of the songs that they had written in the short time they had been together, but were apparently unsatisfied with their performance and never bothered to do a final mix of the tape. Instead they went back into the studio a month later and recorded what would become their debut, the 8-song eponymous 7"EP (Dischord #3). The tape of the first demo was discovered when Dischord started work on the 'Twenty Years of Dischord' boxset. Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara mixed the tape in December of 2001, but the release was shelved by the label while work was being done on the boxset. The rough mix of this first demo has appeared on bootlegs over the years, but this is the first time that the master tapes have been made available.

THE PUPILS
S/T
Dischord Records
The Pupils are a duo consisting of Daniel Higgs and Asa Osbourne from the band Lungfish. From Higgs electronic solo project Cone of Light, Asa's collaboration in Tear Jerks, and the poetry of Higgs and Mitchell Feldstien the members of Lungfish have always been renowned for their extracurricular artistic endeavors. Lungfish are still going strong, but between albums Dan and Asa have recorded this beautiful and gripping album. Fans from within and out of the cult of Lungfish will not be unmoved.

HZERO
CAñA ANTIGUA
Sell Our Souls
After a year working on demos and artworks the debut LP of HZERO is a reality. This LP features 8 blasting tunes, oldschool hardcore with a twist (killer guitar riffs, crunchy bass lines and snotty vocals), great doses of Rock while keeping their hardcore roots. HZERO sounds like a two trains head on collision, in one of the trains we have BLACK FLAG and NEGATIVE APPROACH while in the other we have POISON IDEA and TURBONEGRO. 8 tracks in less than 20 minutes that will leave you on your knees begging for more!

RITES OF SPRING
S/T
Dischord Records
One of the forefathers of emotional post punk and hardcore, this classic mid '80s era D.C. band features Guy Picciotto and Brendan Canty who later formed FUGAZI. This is a complete discography featuring their debut album, the "All Through A Life" 7", as well as a previously unreleased track not on any other releases. Know your roots. RESTOCK!!!

FUGAZI
RED MEDICINE
Dischord Records
The music in Red Medicine transcends punk; it is highly experimental, and on first listen, the album assaults you with waves of noise. When guitar theatrics seem to be put in the back burner by many of the neo-punk bands of today, Fugazi have brought it right out to the forefront. Recorded at Inner Ear Studios in January 1995. VINYL VERSION!!!

LUNGFISH
LOVE IS LOVE
Dischord Records
If Lungfish is guilty of anything, according to critics, it is sounding like themselves over and over. While this is kinda true to a certain extent, it must be understood that the band is probably aware of this too, and, if anything, many would consider this to be one of the band's strengths. Love Is Love while still fitting the formula of past releases, does manage to inject a bit of new life here. Powerful yet subtle, Love Is Love exposes new ideas over repeated listens and re-energizes an already electric band. (All Music Guide)
FARAQUET
THE VIEW FROM THIS TOWER
Dischord Records

YOUTH OF TODAY
WE'RE NOT IN THIS ALONE
Revelation Records
The songs on "We're Not In This Alone" are born from the band's dedication to straight edge, positive living and the strength of the both the individual and of a generation. Full of energy and inspiration this record was an essential step in the development of hardcore. Completely remastered and designed with tons of rare, previously unissued photos and complete lyrics.

THE EVENS
S/T
Dischord Records
The Evens are Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye and ex-Warmer Amy Farina, with MacKaye on baritone guitar and Farina on drums. Both of them sing (quite well, actually). Comparisons to Yo La Tengo’s wry, disarming slices of life aren’t unwarranted, and the Evens share an engaging candor reminiscent of Hoboken’s first family of indie rock. The Evens is a quiet, low-key affair, defined mainly by the duo’s gentle harmonies and Farina’s skittering but smart drumming rather than by any academic pop aesthetic. The Evens strip their material bare-not to flex their muscles but to uncover the emotional core of the music. (Harp zine).VINYL VERSION!

HOOVER
LURID TRAVERSAL OF ROUTE 7
Dischord Records
Orginally released in 1994, the bands’ only full length has been remastered 10 years later at Silver Sonya by Chad Clark with 2nd 7" as a bonus. The band only existed briefly but had a tremendous impact on post-hardcore music. They recently got back together to tour Europe and play a show in D.C.! RESTOCK!!!

EARTHLESS
SONIC PRAYER
Gravity Records
Earthless are a band from San Diego, CA with Mario R. drummer of Clikatat Ikatowi and Hot Snakes, and Mike E. on bass from Electric Nazarene, and Isaih M. a touring member of Nebula on guitar. They play 20-30 minute, loud, epic songs. Producing a bombastic stew of druggie bass drone, pulsating rhythmic sex beats, and brain piercing acid flashback guitar leads. No two Earthless shows are ever the same, so the four song LP was recorded live in the studio to capture the live dynamic that they are most suited for. Earthless draw influences from bands such as The Groundhogs, Amon Duul2, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind and Jimi Hendrix's more freaked out instrumentals.

JUSTICE
ESCAPADES
Youngblood Records
"Escapades" is a record that deserves to be heard. It's genuine, honest, strong and is Justice's most daring and challenging record to date. It's a relief in these days of pre-packaged angst and anger, a breath of fresh air among the many bands that just go through the motions. Belgium's Justice have gone all the way, both musically and lyrically, to give us 110 percent. Nothing less. They've put their hearts on display and have dug deeper than ever to write the best bunch of songs they possibly could.

THE CASSETTES
S/T
Lovitt Records
The Cassettes' self-titled album is at its core a pop album. Not that it relies on the ol' 1-4-5 formula at all. On this release, the quartet comprising former and current members of Frodus, Dead Meadow, and Weird War has surrounded its irresistible center with lush, layered vocals and slight elements of garage rock and psychedelia.

DYS
BROTHERHOOD
Fan Club Release
A reissue of the debut Brotherhood album from Boston straightedge hardcore pioneers DYS. Features all the tracks from the original release, along with bonus tracks taken from the same sessions, including the original, unreleased version of the song "Wolfpack," with backing vocals from HÜSKER DÜ.
