CAVE IN
JUPITER
Hydra Head
he latest strain from incurable Hydra Head neck-snappers and deadly-sound viral carriers CAVE IN, delivers another debilitating blow to your already weakened rock immune system. An eight-track mutation from the band's previous attacks, that, though not quite as aggressive, is every bit as infectious. Packaged in a fancy, multi-panel digipak sleeve.

BORN AGAINST
REBEL SOUND OF SHIT
Prank Records
The Rebel Sound of Shit and Failure is a 19-song posthumous release of all BORN AGAINST's remaining and out-of-print obscure 7", 8", and compilation tracks with extensive liner notes and lyrics. Culled from various line-ups of the band, The Rebel Sound includes material ranging from the early years of heavily LIFE'S BLOOD-style New York hardcore sludginess, to the band's final release marked with experimentation, from the classic "Bit Part in a Bad Movie" to the Jeffersons' theme song! Remastered from the Vermiform version with slight changes.

TRANS AM
THING
Thrill Jockey
Most bands are too afraid to step up to the bat. They are scared that life is going to throw them different kinds of curve balls. But for more than fifteen years, Trans Am has fearlessly stepped up, taken their swings and thrown a few curve balls of their own. Trans Am a-la 2010 is a band of veterans unafraid to contradict themselves, confident in their identity even as confounding as that identity has been for their fans over the years. Thing represents a further attempt by the band to further remove themselves not just from various indie-rock labels, but music itself. One of Thing's requirements was that each track contain a completely non-musical element, preferably something with a sonic signature that was not even necessarily a sound.

MONO
YOU ARE THERE
Temporary Residence
Throughout their six-year career, this Japanese quartet has ascended consistently in both popularity and critical acclaim. But still elusive is the successful translation of their powerful and violently beautiful live performances to their recordings, until now. Once again recorded by Steve Albini, the album extends the cinematic drama of 2003's "Walking Cloud And Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered And The Sun Shined" while surpassing the sinister heaviness of 2002's lauded "One Step More And You Die". If "Walking Cloud" was a nuclear winter, then "You Are There" is the post-war rebirth. This band isn't heavy like Black Sabbath. They're heavy like Beethoven.

RUSSIAN CIRCLES
STATION
Suicide Squeeze Records
Metal trimmings, minimal jazz primers, and cryptic riffs that hit out of nowhere with the pummeling impact of a comet. Their music weaves up an intense and cinematic albeit soothing clobbering that cannot be pigeonholed. Their lumbering layers of chiseled post rock and feathery psychedelic infusions have both revved and enticed listeners into mental orgasms the world over. They've shared stages with Tool, Dalek, Daughters, and Pelican.

SEA AND CAKE
EVERYBODY
Thrill Jockey
Their first full-length in over four years continues to perfect their singular brand of dreamlike, hot-buttered pop music that sounds delicately handcrafted, yet effortless. Sheets of glowing guitar tones skip along propulsive percussion underscored by gently funky, introspective bass lines, all adorned by breathlessly delivered lines of lyrical poetry.

TRAPPED IN A SCENE
BY IAN GLASPER
Cherry Books
Released on 21/09/09 The underground hardcore scene of the mid-late Eighties was UK punk rock's last significant creative gasp. Emerging from the wreckage of the anarcho punk scene spawned by the likes of Crass and Conflict, it took its influences from the studs 'n' leather punk bands of the early Eighties such as Discharge and GBH, and also the nascent American hardcore movement and the emerging metal/punk crossover scene. Filter all of this through some through fiercely DIY aesthetics and you had a potent movement that spawned such seminal acts as Napalm Death, ENT, The Stupids and Heresy. With the backing of John Peel and an unwavering work ethic, these bands, and the labels that launched them (including Earache and Peaceville - both now widely regarded as having some of the finest metal rosters in the world), pushed musical boundaries into new and previously unexplored avenues of extremity, helping to shape the alternative music scene we know and love today.

ISIS | AEROGRAMME
IN THE FISH TANK
Konkurrent
Where both bands are known for their love of metal and post-hardcore next to experiment and a spheric approach, they not only show these skills here, but on top they reach an impressively high level of purity, roominess and emotion. Putting two bands together with such different home-bases as Los Angeles and Glasgow in a small town near Amsterdam was a challenge we couldn?t resist. In December 2004 the idea grew concrete that long-time Konkurrent-friends Aereogramme would share the studio with Isis to record a Fishtank. RECOMMENDED!

MONO
HYMN TO THE IMMORTAL WIND
Temporary Residence
Just in time for their 10-year anniversary, Mono return with their fifth studio album. Written and arranged with a hopeful, romantic narrative in mind, the songs string together like chapters in an epic love story. The music is naturally majestic, with Mono's trademark wall of noise crashing beautifully against the largest chamber orchestra the band has ever enlisted. The instrumentation is vast, incorporating strings, flutes, organ, piano, glockenspiel, and tympani into their standard face-melting set up.

SKUFFED UP MY HUFFY
Altin Village Records
"Skuffed up my huffy", the band`s fifth full-length(twelve tracks at a total of about 27 minutes), there are actual songs. japanther´s trademark hooks, sing-along choruses and misfity/ramonesy/ronettesy infectiousness has finally crystallized on an album. with the current vogue for shoegaze-inspired noise walls thrust out by No Age and Deerhunter, perhaps this duo can gatecrash theparty ''

DELOREAN
SUBIZA
Mushroom Pillow
Delorean are a Barcelona indie rock band who play Mediterranean dance music and have become one of Spain's most popular underground bands. Taking cues from their native Balearic beat, Madchester house, techno, R&B, Delorean carve out a sunny sweet spot between the stage and the dance floor. Their new album, Subiza - named after the bucolic Basque town in which it was recorded - is Delorean’s defining work to date. Fusing relentless hands-in-the-air club rhythms with the shimmering melodies they've long toyed with, it drips with decades of dancefloor history while retaining Delorean’s own adventurous voice.

FUCKED UP
HIDDEN WORLD
Deranged Records
Toronto's Fucked Up present their first full-length in the band's four year existence after countless singles and EPs, many of which are out of print and fetching large sums on ebay. "Hidden World" continues Fucked Up's departure from the fast, sloppy early '80s styled hardcore they began with, and their adventure into a more dangerous territory of punk, combining melodies with expansive structures and adding thought-provoking and sometimes controversial imagery to their mix. DOUBLE VINYL VERSION!!!

YAPHET KOTTO
WE BURY OUR DEAD ALIVE
Ebullition Records
For seven years Yaphet Kotto has been unleashing a torrent of melodic power fashioned from a dual guitar attack, hammering drumming, and a passionate duel vocal approach. We Bury Our Dead Alive is Yaphet Kotto’s third full length LP, and these ten songs are once again inspired, emotionally charged, melodic and hard hitting. Unlike many bands, time has not mellowed Yaphet Kotto. Their new material is tighter, heavier, and harder than ever before.

AMPERE | SINALOA
SPLIT

Ampere features ex-members of Orchid, Bucket Full Of Teeth, Laceration, Stop The Clock, Wolves and The Last Forty Seconds while Sinaloa features ex-members of Ettile Vyre and Ache. RAW POWER
AFTER YOUR BRAIN
Toxic Shock
Vinyl LP reissue of this 1986 album from Italy's answer to Black Flag. Many would classify Raw Power as "crossover" Hardcore because they employ heavy riffing and wanky solos in many of the songs, but their ferocity defied any generic label. Whether or not they were named for the Stooges album, Raw Power had as much to do with the ultra-high-energy of the Detroit Rock sound as they did with contemporary early '80s Hardcore Heavy Metal. The After Your Brain LP was released at a time when U.S. Hardcore was beginning to lose its direction.

SEEIN RED
WE MUST DO MORE THAN JUST MUSIC
Ebullition Records
This new LP, titled "We Must Do More Than Just Music", features twenty-two brand new protest tracks from Seein' Red. Recorded in 2005. These 22 songs are fast, angry political hardcore songs as only Seein' Red does them. Seein' Red has been together for many, many years. They have played all over the world. They have released dozens and dozens of records. And they are a very well known and respected hardcore band. Angry, political, and pissed off... Seein' Red offers a wall of hardcore noise. Powerful music with a powerful message.

KORO
SPEED KILLS
Sorry State Records
Finally seeing the light of day are these eleven tracks that were originally recorded in 1983 as a demo preceding a planned LP that never happened. Some of these songs appear on the infamous Koro 7" but many are unreleased, giving a more lengthy look at this early 80s thrashing hardcore band from Tennessee. Along with the lyrics on the insert you also get a very thorough interview with the band from 2006.

STATE
NO ILLUSIONS
Havoc Records
Ann Arbor Michigan's the State, are one of the rawest and most powerful hardcore bands of the early 80's. Sadly overlooked, the State has had a cult following among collectors and hardcore maniacs in the midwest since the glory days of the early 80s. After a dodgey European bootleg of this 7" the band, Havoc and Grand Theft Audio have teamed up to give this lost classic a proper re issue. Recorded in 1983 by the State with production assistance from Ron Asheton of the Stooges, this is totally icindiery raw, pissed off early 80's hardcore punk. The anger and raw energy on this disk capture the frustration and angst of growing up punk in Reagan's America. Musically it's a raw hardcore assault on the lines of Discharge, Negative Approach, Necros or the Fix.

ORCHID
CHAOS IS ME | DANCE TONIGHT!

IRON AND WINE
OUR ENDLESS NUMBERED DAYS
Subpop
Iron and Wine return with one of the most anticipated releases of 2004. "Our Endless Numbered Days" is the second full-length album from Iron and Wine (essentially Sam Beam), and it was recorded both at Sam's Miami home and in Chicago's Engine Studios with Brian Deck (Red Red Meat, Modest Mouse, Ugly Casanova.). On it, Sam is aided and abetted by his regular touring and recording conspirators: his sister Sarah Beam, Patrick McKinney, Jeff McGriff, EJ Holowicki, and Jonathan Bradley.

IRON AND WINE
CREEK DRANK THE CRADLE
Subpop
The Creek Drank the Cradle is filled with hushed, restrained vocals, affecting lyrics from a naturalist's perspective, exploring relationships and the hope born from them, all of which come across as though whispered to you personally, accompanied by guitar, banjo, slide guitar… Taken as a whole, The Creek Drank the Cradle, Iron and Wine's debut CD, is an ode to an older South; a part of America that is defined by "traditional values," pastoral imagery and arcane manners.

JAGA JAZZIST
ANIMAL CHIN EP
GSL
The band's sound is a minefield of contrasting textures and styles; the comparisons that come up often include Miles Davis, Squarepusher, Tortoise, Talk Talk, and Kid 606. The 10-piece group's members span their domestic music scene, and they have performed with, and/or been part of, virtually every notable contemporary Norwegian band.

IRON AND WINE
SEA AND THE RHYTHM
Subpop
5 songs recorded in Sam Beam’s bedroom from the same sessions that gave us 2002’s The Creek Drank the Cradle. The Sea and the Rhythm includes “Jesus the Mexican Boy,” which has been a big audience favorite at recent Iron and Wine shows. Sam and his co-conspirators will be recording the new Iron and Wine full-length this summer at Chicago’s Engine Studios with Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Holopaw, Red Red Meat), scheduled for release in early 2004.

BAD BRAINS
ROCK FOR LIGHT
Fan Club Release
This is the classic album from 1982. Virtually everyone agrees that this group made up of four Washington, D.C.-bred African American jazzbos single-handedly invented hardcore. They radically quickened punk's tempos, added virtuoso instrumentation, and topped it all off with the mystic squeals of shaman-like frontman Paul "H.R." Hudson. This release gives voice to the band's scathing sociopolitical judgment as well as its ability to simply put the hammer down and rock.
